Sunday drive home

It was such a quick weekend!!! Sunday I ate badly AGAIN!

Sunday morning before we left town the family celebrated all of the March birthdays by having a birthday breakfast. I went hog wild!

For lunch we stopped at a Subway in Wakeeney, KS. I didn't count it. I was just being lazy.

My turn to drive. I had a Caffeine Free Diet Dr. Pepper just to have something to do while driving.

Can you see it? That's the Welcome to Colorful Colorado sign. Not the greatest pic but I was the one driving.

It was good to be home. I would have loved to stay longer but it just wasn't possible. We'll be going back this summer.

For dinner at 7:00 I just made myself a green smoothie made with some almond milk (1pt.).

Happy Birthday to Donna!

We went back to Kansas City for a quick weekend to surprise my sister-in-law Donna for her 50th birthday. She was definitely surprised! It was at the Hyatt Crown Center which is a gorgeous hotel! Thank you Donna and John for a fun party!

Road trip!

We left on a road trip on Friday. We had a late start. It was 3:30pm by the time we left. Keith and Jazzy had school and work, respectively. But, we got on the road!

My morning started with 2 patties of turkey sausage(3pts.) and 2 eggs(4pts.) and coffee(1pt.)

Afternoon snack of a pear and 1/2 cup of low fat cottage cheese (2pts.) I must've bought fat free cottage cheese the last time I was at the store. I believe the fat free version is only 1 point for 1/2 cup. Oh well, now I know.

For lunch I made yet another burrito. Whole wheat tortilla (3pts.), 1/4 cup refried beans(1pt.), 1 wedge of laughing cow cheese (1pt.) carnitas (5pts.), reduced fat sour cream (1pt.), lettuce and salsa

Yikes! It all added up because of the carnitas meat. I made it months ago and had it in the freezer. I didn't look up to see how many points it was before I made my burrito. Ugh! 11 points! I try not to use that much at lunch. I prefer to eat maybe 9 points at most for lunch. So, for the rest of the day I have 8 points. And, we're driving in the middle of Kansas where dinner will be something fast food. Well, this is just how life is so I guess I will figure it out.

Road trips always include snacks right?!? I think I like to eat in the car because of boredom. What else is there to do? ;) Keith and Jazzy enjoyed their snacks while driving. I was a good girl!

McDonald's it was. There was an Arby's across the street but I had already looked up what I could have assuming every town has a Mickey D's. I had a cheeseburger (8pts.) and a side salad with Newman's Own fat free balsamic vinaigrette(1pt.). Left me wanting more but that's what fast food does to you.
Then, when it was my turn to drive I snacked on carrots sticks. Yeah me! Then I had a stick of sugar free gum.

Children Learn What They Live

Merry Christmas!

I heard this in church today and had to find it.
By Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph.D.

If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility, they learn to fight.
If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive.
If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves.
If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy.
If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy.
If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty.
If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence.
If children live with tolerance, they learn patience.
If children live with praise, they learn appreciation.
If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.
If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.
If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal.
If children live with sharing, they learn generosity.
If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness.
If children live with fairness, they learn justice.
If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.
If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.
If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.

My Birthday

My day ended up being such a wonderful day! At first it wasn't shaping up to be that way but, in the end I really do have to say that was fabulous! It started rough because I just couldn't stop thinking of my Mom. I went and watched her memorial video because I missed her so much. That was silly but, I really think I needed her. How could I not pay respect to her, she brought me into this world and I love her for that.
My day ended with a couple great surprises. One of which, Keith and Jazzy surprised me with a cake!

I have to admit this was the best birthday I've had in a really time. In fact, I could go as far to say that it was the best birthday EVER!!

Mom, these are the words I've found for you.
you WERE

Beautiful, Generous and had a Big Heart
Independent, Strong, and always a hard worker
Creative, Passionate & you thought of every detail
Positive, Uplifting & Encouraging us along the way
Funny, Adventurous and had a contiguous smile

• You loved playing games because it brought people together

• You loved to cook to gather the ones you loved

• You made every Birthday and Holiday Special
At Christmas, we had so many Christmas Trees in our house... In the living room was a Formal Victorian tree in the Kitchen had a Christmas tree with cookie cutters, In the Family Room was usually a Live tree with sentimental ornaments you couldn't bare to part with because their was a lot! You also gave us each a Christmas Tree for our bedrooms and let express ourselves

• When you met someone for the first time you wouldn't shake their hand, you would say "I'm a hugger" & grab them.

• You never liked to miss out on the any action. Now, you never wanted to be the center of attention but you were always on the sidelines cheering us on.

• You never pushed us, you let us be ourselves

• As kids, we all bragged to our friends that our Mom was SPECIAL. You were special because you were left handed and you had a leap year birthday. You turned 14 1/2 this year just like Jazzy is now.

• You moved back to CO 1 year ago & remarried Dad. We are thankful for this last year.

• You've raised 4 great adults and 2 wonderful grandkids. We will make you proud

• Mom, this room is filled with YOUR love, we all feel that right now.

You will always be our connector, You've gathered us once again, this time it's to honor YOU!
